TWO men who burgled a house after appearing in court on shoplifting charges have been jailed.

Ian McTear, 32, and Scott Hooper, 23, both with addresses in Leeds Street, Liverpool, admitted charges of breaking into the house in Wealstone Lane, Upton on April 6 and stealing an iPad, an iPod and three mobile phones.

The two men had earlier appeared at Chester Magistrates Court to face shoplifting charges and were on their way back to Liverpool when they carried out the burglary. They were arrested close to the scene.

McTear was sentenced to two years and four months in prison and Hooper was sentenced to 15 months in prison at Chester Crown Court on May 9.

Detective Inspector Sharon Case said, “A quick response by Police Officers resulted in the arrest of these two men and the recovery of the stolen property.
